WHAT IS MIOFASCIAL RELEASE?
Myofascial release is a practical technique used to treat myofascial pain. “Myo” means muscle. “Fascial” refers to the connective tissue that covers and supports the muscles of the whole body.

Myofascial release (MFR) is a technique that involves the gentle application of sustained pressure on the fascia, the network of connective tissue that spreads throughout the body, surrounding each nerve, muscle, blood vessel, bone, and organ.
This technique was developed to address specific areas of pain and relieve the tension caused by muscle restriction. Myofascial release uses sustained pressure to stretch and lengthen the fascia to return it to its configuration.
The healthy fascia is relatively elastic and malleable. When it hardens, it restricts movement and creates pain. It can move differently to compensate for the tension, which can cause problems and create pain and tension elsewhere far from the origin of the problem.
The ability to discern through touch and a deep understanding of body mechanics allows the therapist to see each client as a unique individual. They operate specifically with the unique body structure, posture, and trauma of that person.
The myofascial system of the body is very integral and detailed and can strongly influence the movement and restriction of movement. This requires the ability to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate pressure or sustained movement to release the fascia.
Myofascial release helps us above all to treat pathologies that affect soft tissues.
They are especially useful in people with:
• ATM
• Headaches and migraines
• Cervicalgia and dorsalgia
• Post-traumatic or post-surgical scars
• Chronic or persistent pain
• Fibromyalgia
• Whiplash
• Low back pain
• Migraines and headaches
• Tendinopathies
• Hernias disc
